The Black dollar circulates in our community for an estimated six hours. In every other community in America, it circulates for weeks. BlackPlate exists to change that — one reservation, one review, one Sunday dinner at a time.
We started in Atlanta because Atlanta is where the culture cooks. From Busy Bee Café in West End to white-tablecloth tasting menus on the Westside, this city has carried Black culinary excellence for generations. Then we kept going — Houston, New Orleans, Brooklyn, DC, Detroit. Wherever our people are feeding our people, we want them on this directory.
Yelp and Tripadvisor weren't built for us. The reviews on those platforms have closed more Black-owned businesses than they've helped. Our directory is different: every listing is verified Black-owned, every review is by someone who actually showed up, and we never take a commission from an owner.
